-First of all, tell yourself and your teaching team and admin that you and your students are going to embrace project based learning.  Don't wait for permission from anyone - just do it!

-Introduce the Global Competency Matrix to your students.  Explain that these are skills that will help them to succeed in any job field and generally in life.

-Take the time to show students how to: Investigate the World,  See Perspectives, Communicate Effectively, and Take Action. Do mini-lessons for each.

-Don't be rushed in the process of helping students create meaningful projects.  Take your time.  Let kids take their time. (For example, if you are a social studies teacher, STOP letting a timeline dictate "where you're supposed to be" at a given time of the year.  Where you're supposed to be is in a supportive role for kids to become lifelong, self-directed learners.)
